On February 18, a tourist group of 15 people from Laos and Thailand entered China through the Mohan Port, marking the first visa-free tourist group from ASEAN countries to enter Xishuangbanna. On February 10, the National Immigration Administration (NIA) of China announced a visa-free policy for tourist groups from ASEAN countries visiting Xishuangbanna. Xishuangbanna is located at the southernmost tip of Yunnan Province and borders Laos and Myanmar. It serves as China's gateway to the Lancang-Mekong River Basin which encompasses six countries, offering international flight routes to countries such as Laos and Thailand and connecting to the Indochina Peninsula through the China-Laos Railway.
