"Border Sea," a film focusing on cross-boarder trade and cultural ties between China and Vietnam, premiered in theaters across China on Friday.

Starring actors from both China and Vietnam, the film tells the story of a young Chinese man and a Vietnamese woman who fall in love while working in a border trade market in Fangchenggang City, located in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Border Sea weaves a touching narrative of love, family, and friendship.
The story’s main characters Ah Yong and Ah Hua, as well as Ah Cheng and Ah Mei, two Chinese-Vietnamese pairs living along the border, showcase the emotional journey behind the saying, “Love knows no boundaries and can conquer mountains and seas.”
Đinh triệu đoan nghi, the leading Vietnamese actress, said that the film helps audiences experience the charm of cultural exchange and integration through the protagonists' love story. She added that the film also serves as a bridge for cultural communication between Vietnam and China.
“The film took nearly three years to produce, offering an authentic portrayal of life along the China-Vietnam border,” said Liu Zhibing, the producer of Border Sea.
As the first Chinese theatrical release centered on China-Vietnam border trade, the film incorporates various cultural elements of the Jing ethnic group, aiming to deepen public understanding of China’s Jing ethnic minority.
In recent years, China and Vietnam have strengthened cooperation in film production through joint projects, actor exchanges, and film screenings.
These initiatives have promoted greater participation by directors and actors in each other's film endeavors, enhancing mutual understanding of each nation's history, culture, customs, and lifestyle.
