The first locally born pigeon giant panda cubs at the Ocean Park of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) met the public on Sunday.

Fans of the twins queued up at the entrance to the park several hours early before the opening, some carrying panda toys and dressing adorned with panda elements.

At 10 o’clock, the first batch of visitors entered the park. Cheers erupted from the crowd when the pandas met the public at the "Giant Panda Adventure" hall of the park. The two little cubs were active, climbing and playing on tree branches, swinging on a seesaw, and nuzzling each other.

The panda cubs were born last August to Ying Ying and Le Le, two giant pandas gifted by the central government to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).

At a greeting ceremony Saturday, HKSAR Chief Executive John Lee expressed heartfelt gratitude to the experts for taking excellent care of the twins and providing professional postnatal care to Ying Ying after her giving birth to the cubs.

According to the Ocean Park, Giant Panda Adventure can receive up to 5,000 visitors a day, with 100 visitors accommodated at a time. To ensure the well-being of the giant pandas and enhance the experience for all, visitors are refrained from using flash photography.

There are six giant pandas living in Hong Kong now, including the two panda cubs, their parents Ying Ying and Le Le, An An, and Ke Ke.
