The Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Forestry Bureau introduced on the 6th that recently, scientific researchers discovered a new species of the genus Aristolochiaceae-Leye Isotrema Manshuriense during a comprehensive scientific investigation in the establishment area of the Southwest Karst National Park.

It is reported that a technical team composed of the Guangxi Forest Inventory & Planning Institute, Guangxi Institute of Botany, and other units conducted a specialized plant survey in the national-level nature reserve of Yachang Orchidaceae plants located in the aforementioned establishment area, where they discovered a flowering plant of the Isotrema Manshuriense. Through anatomical observation and systematic comparative studies of domestic and foreign literature and specimens, it was confirmed that this species had never been described or reported before, and the researchers named it Leye Isotrema Manshuriense based on its discovery location. This research result was officially published in the international biology journal Taiwania on January 4, 2025.

The discovery of this new species further enriches the baseline species resources of the establishment area of the Southwest Karst National Park, providing new data for the study of the flora of the Isotrema Manshuriense and its medicinal and economic value.
