According to Guangxi’s Beibu Gulf Port Group, the Beiliu-Chishui-Sydney cargo route will transfer at Hong Kong before reaching Sydney Harbour in Australia.
The opening of the route marks a new milestone for Guangxi's inland ports, creating a more efficient and streamlined international logistics channe to facilitate the export of fully-assembled caravans. It is expected to strengthen trade between Guangxi’s hinterland and Australia.
Additionally, the new route aims to reduce transportation costs for Guangxi’s automobile manufacturers, enhancing the competitive edge of China’s automotive industry in the global supply chain.
According to the exporter of this caravans shipment, logistics costs are projected to drop by 10 percent, alleviating financial pressures for the company.
Since the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership came into effect in January 2022, Guangxi has experienced significant growth in automobiles exports. This year, Chishui Port has continued to innovate foreign trade logistics service models, contributing to the high-quality development of international trade.
As of Dec. 9, the port has handled 12.19 million metric tons of cargo, up 6.75 percent year-on-year. It has processed 3,682 twenty-foot equivalent units of containers, representing a 56-fold increase from the same period last year and setting a new record for foreign trade volume.
